Concerned

Ciara takes her baking very seriously. I used the vivid color and daylight setting with an ISO of 200.

Together

This was taken with the daylight setting even though we were indoors because this room was flooded with sunlight. I used an ISO of 100 and the vivid color setting. Faithlynn and Madelynn will be pals forever.

Madelynn and Brick

Madelynn and I were walking out of a store when we spotted this great brick wall. I used the daylight setting with an ISO of 100 and the vivid color setting. I liked the texture and angle of the wall contrasted with Madelynn's soft features.

Friends

I used the fluorescent setting with an ISO of 100 for this photo.  The girls personalities really shine through in this shot.

Buddha Stance

I shot this photo with the daylight setting because there was so much sun light coming in the window.  I used an ISO of 100 and the vivid color mode.  Evalynn has always been the most serene of all my daughters.

I'm Cool

I used the fluorescent setting with an ISO of 200.  This little girl in her purple glasses is just too cool, but I could not control the glare reflecting off her lenses.

Sky

There has been a lot of interesting cloud formations in the sky lately.  I took both photos with an outdoor setting and an ISO of 100.

Reflection

It was so overcast today I decided to work indoors. I used the incandescent lighting setting with an ISO of 200. I liked the mirror's perspective in this photograph.

Congo

It was so overcast this morning I had to use an ISO of 80 and the tripod to stay in focus.  This bag was bought at a fundraiser for the Panzi Foundationtion which helps women in the Congo.

Transcendence

I used my macro lens to get the most detail I could and the incandescent setting for the white balance. I am happy with the way the lighting and texture in the dresser turned out. I titled this, "Transcendence" because the moth is still beautiful in death, as are the boxes and bracelet in the photo. 

Father's Day

I used the daylight setting with vivid color, at a 200 ISO.  I am finally happy with the white balance on these photos.

Union

I used the daylight setting for the white balance but I still think the color is off.  I also used the macro lens to get more detail from my husband's hand.  The title is an obvious reference to his wedding ring and our union.

Tim's Stairway

This photo was taken from a distance, in the morning light, with a zoom lens. Climbing a ladder outdoors symbolizes my husband's way of life and personal growth.

Biggest Loser

 

It was so overcast today I decided to make my own light with fire and used the macro lens for more detail.  

I was amused by the title on the box.

New Growth

I was looking at my gardens in the mourning light and discovered this new flower on my Hydrangea bushes.  I used the macro lens with an ISO of 200 which gave me the most detail.

Symbiotic Pals/Rejection

I took this photo shortly after sunrise, with an ISO of 200 and macro lens setting to get as much texture as possible. The relationship between the pot and plant struck me as ironic. 

Morning Reflection

I used the zoom lens to get this spontaneous picture of my daughter sitting quietly after she just woke up. The pictures of the pope were taken with my tripod, but the angle of the picture of the pope in the background made it difficult for me to have both images focused. So, I had to focus on the picture in the foreground.  

Lace and Light

I thought the light shining through the lace, showing all it's intricate patterns, was beautiful. So, it inspired me to experiment with the different color settings on my camera. I particulary liked these three settings, because their simplicity is consistant with the Amish lace and the old-fashioned feeling of the bedframe.

Fish Out of Water

I used my tripod to get optimum focus and the macro setting to get as much detail from the stain glass fish as possible. I took several shots in the morning light. This is the one that I was able to get the most detail from. This fish and I have traveled from Venice, Calfornia and back a few times over the years. 

Self Portrait

                                    

I tried three different iso settings for this self portrait; this is the one that gave the most detail of these old photos when I was a baby. I like the parallel between my baby pictures and the picture of myself holding my first born baby.  You can also see my reflection in the foreground adding to the layers of self portraiture.              

Glass in Morning Light

I used the macro lens to get this shot with an ISO of 200. I liked the shadow on the ceiling and the way the light was shining through the glass in the morning. 

Rock Hero

My daughter and I were inspired by the image in this rock. I used the macro setting on my camera to get as much detail from the rock as possible.

Yin/Yang Wood

It was too overcast to have interesting shadows, so I concentrated on getting the textures of the wood.

Garden Glass

These were taken on Monday, June 6th 2011. 

I liked the reflections of light on these glass pieces, which have survived many winters as well as our latest move.

Having difficulty with focus, but I like the colors.

Magic Hour

I tried taking this photo with many different settings to take advantage of the beautiful reflections of light during this hour. This is the one that turned out the best.

Tim needs a cowboy hat in this photo, nevertheless the prickliness of the cacti reflect his disposition.
